  • What is a Barrel Sauna?

A barrel sauna is a type of sauna that features a unique barrel-shaped design. It is constructed using curved wooden boards called staves, we use high-quality Canadian Red Cedar. The curved shape of the sauna allows for efficient heat distribution and improved air circulation. Barrel saunas provide a cozy and inviting space for individuals to enjoy the benefits of heat therapy and relaxation. They are often appreciated for their aesthetic appeal and the natural beauty of the wood used in their construction.

  • What are the benefits of using a barrel sauna?

Using a barrel sauna offers numerous benefits for both physical and mental well-being. It promotes relaxation, stress relief, and detoxification through sweating, while also improving circulation, supporting respiratory health, and aiding in muscle recovery. Barrel saunas can rejuvenate the skin, boost the immune system, and contribute to overall mental well-being by providing a serene and calming environment.

  • What type of wood is used for your barrel saunas?

Our barrel saunas are crafted from carefully chosen red cedar wood, also referred to as Western red cedar. This wood species, native to North America, is renowned for its strength, natural resistance to decay, and insect-repelling characteristics. With its distinct reddish-brown hue and prominent grain patterns, red cedar wood boasts a stunning and individualistic look, accompanied by a pleasing aroma. Thanks to its natural oils, this wood is also resistant to rot and can endure outdoor conditions effectively.

  • Do I need a base for my barrel sauna?

Yes, it is important to ensure you have a stable and level base before installing your sauna. Refer to the base tips and dimensions provided to guide you when constructing your base. Saunas cannot be installed on grass.

  • How do I maintain a barrel sauna?

Regular maintenance includes cleaning the interior, and ensuring the heating elements are in good condition. Check sauna rocks for any damage or wear and replace as necessary. Remember to always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for proper maintenance of your heater to prolong the lifespan and ensure safe operation.

  • Do barrel saunas leak?

While wood naturally expands and contracts with changing weather conditions, our barrel saunas are designed to withstand the elements. However, during rain or snow melt, there may be some seepage between the staves. Rest assured, this will not harm the sauna, but it may leave water marks and cause the wood to develop a beautiful grey patina. For added protection, we highly recommend installing a roof on your barrel sauna.
